On December 7, Pope Francis led the annual nativity scene unveiling at Paul VI Hall in the Vatican. This year, a team of Palestinian artists from Bethlehem collaborated to create the “Nativity of Bethlehem 2024,” a life-sized nativity scene made from mother-of-pearl, wood, and sheep’s wool. The project, a joint effort by Dar al-Kalima University, the Palestinian Embassy to the Holy See, and the Higher Presidential Committee of Churches Affairs, involved Palestinian artisans working alongside Ma’an lil-Hayat core members and assistants from Dar Salah, who crafted three large sheep for the scene. Ma’an lil-Hayat thanks Johny Andonia, one of the contributing artists, for inviting us to participate in this meaningful initiative.
