BETHLEHEM – On May 11, 2023, the members of the general assembly and the board of directors of Ma’an Lil-Hayat held their annual meeting at the community’s premises in Bethlehem.
At the beginning of the meeting, board president Flavia Andon welcomed the members and thanked them for their presence and continuous support of the mission of the l’Arche community.
Community leader Mahera Gharib then welcomed the new members of the general assembly and gave them an overview of the work and activities of Ma’an in both its branches in Bethlehem and Dar Salah. She also talked about the recent developments in the community and their collaborative work with many universities in Palestine.
The subject of Ma’an Lil-Hayat Boutique Hotel was also on the agenda of the meeting. Mahera spoke about the important role the hotel plays in generating an independent income for the benefit of the community. She pointed out proudly to the fact that the hotel is receiving excellent personal and online reviews and that it was voted among the best entrepreneurial projects in Bethlehem.
The meeting also addressed the community’s work to develop a safeguarding policy. Flavia pointed out that a committee has already been formed to develop a code of conduct. Once crystallized, the policy will be reflected in the contracts of the employees.
The meeting concluded with the reading of the administrative and financial reports.
